About the Event
Duration: 2.5 hours
What to bring: You and your imaginative brain!
All basic stationery (pencils, paper, scissors/glues) are provided.
Description: Part science, part fantasy, all fun!
Get your head around the differences between animal skulls, and the unique features that help those creatures thrive. Why do sheep have such blocky foreheads, and why does a galah need such a big beak?
Explore the world of fantasy and fiction, discovering how all those mythical beasts are inspired by real animals. Next step; design your own! Create our very own monster (or monsters) using the skulls as a reference.
First half: Real Science
· Examine and identify a wide range of real skulls from local species in engaging and collaborative activities.
· Learn about the different features of a skull, and how they influence how that creature lives.
Second Half: Real Monsters
· Explore mythical beasts across multiple works of fiction, and how their designs are influenced by real life creatures.
· Learn about basic elements of cartoon character design.
· Design your own monster, starting with the head, and ending up wherever your imagination takes you.
Suitable for all ages, recommended for ages 10+
Please note this is not a drop off program, and all participants under 18yrs require adult supervision. Parents and carers are invited to make use of the on-site coffee window and free Wifi, or purchase a ticket and combine creative forces with your child to make a dragon empire!!
