Botanics & Brunch - Watercolour Workshop

Details: Spend a morning exploring your creative side, surrounded by the beauty of Herdsman Lake. This adults-only botanical art workshop, factilitated by local artist Jan Pittman, will guide you in the application of watercolour techniques. Participants will learn how to paint in a botanical style with accuracy and dimension, creating delicate leaves (calophylla, marri, “pretty leaf”), gum nuts, feathers and sea shells.

There will be a break halfway through the session to enjoy a grazing platter, a selection of native and traditional teas, and barista-made coffee. 

What to Bring: Please wear an apron or clothing suitable for painting, and enclosed shoes. All art materials will be provided on the day. 

Cost: $70 per particpant, which includes all materials, food and beverages. 

Participants: Suitable for both beginners and more experienced artists, ages 18 years and over. Maximum of 20 participants.

About The Artist:

Jan Pittman is a Western Australian Watercolour artist, who is member of the Watercolour Society of WA, the Botanical Art Society of Australia, and the Australian Guild of Realist Artists, and is currently president of the Mundaring Weir Gallery, which operates as a co-operative to sell local arts and crafts.  She also participates in the Mundaring Hills Open Studios, which occurs in October each year.

Jan started doing botanical art, concentrating on watercolours, around 15 years ago.  She finds lots of inspiration in the native plants on her property in Gidgegannup, but also paints children, shells, animals and birds, including frogs, feathers, dogs and the occasional eagle skull.
