About the Event
Join Molly Fernandes, local published author, as she reads her latest children's book about Owen, a boy who loves birds, and his adventures!
Owen’s Afternoon Tea is the story of Owen the Ornithologist, a boy who loves birds. On his most dangerous quest of all, Owen encounters the largest eagle of them all. Will this expedition end in cake or chaos? This rhyming picture book is illustrated by botanical artist Marlene Lozano and written by Molly Fernandes. This book aims to celebrate science, birdlife and raise awareness about habitat destruction.
After the book reading and author talk, go on your own guided nature adventure through the paperbark grove and boardwalk to observe which birds inhabit Hersman Lake. Then, return to the Discovery Centre to craft your very own model clay bird to take home!
This workshop is a treat for all bird lovers, but best suited to participants 5+yrs.
Please Note: This is NOT a drop off program and all participants under 18yrs must be in the care and supervision of a responsible adult at all times.
