About the Event
Thanks to funding through the Better Beginnings Family Literacy Community Grants Program, administered by the State Library of Western Australia, the WA Gould League is excited to host a new early literacy program in 2026 called Bookworms.
The aim is to help local families feel confident and supported in sharing books and stories with their young children (aged 0 to 5 years) while also celebrating Western Australian authors.
Bookworms will be held at Herdsman Lake Discovery Centre from 10:00-11:30am on the first Saturday of each month, supported by WAGL playgroup facilitators Chantelle, Leigh & Sarah.
In September, we are very lucky to be joined by the one and only Frané Lessac, who will be reading a few of her much-loved books, including A is for Australian Animals,
The Big Book of Australian Nursery Rhymes, and Australian Baby Animals!
The reading will be followed by a short nature walk and fun…
