About the Event

Join fine artist Leigh Patterson-Kane and Biologist Karen Cullen for this special school holiday program on WAs threatened species. Learn about some of our threatened animal and plant species and why they are vanishing. Leigh will take participants through some drawing and painting techniques to ultimately create an amazing art piece on their choice of threatened species.  After lunch Native animal rescue will be bringing in some live threatened native animals for a meet-n-greet.

Final artworks can then be submitted into the 2021 Threatened Species Art Competition 'Wild At Art', run by the Australian Conservation Foundation. Details can be found here: http://www.threatenedspeciesartcomp.net.au

There will be eight categories of prize winners: 5-7 year olds, 8-10 year olds and 11-12 year olds, with special categories of Most Unusual Entry, Best Plant entry, Best Group-work Entry, Best Local Entry.

This session will be 4 hours with a break for morning tea and lunch. Tickets are $30 per participant and will include all materials (parents and carers are free of charge). Friends of the WA Gould League receive a 15% discount on all Holiday Adventures. Please enter coupon at checkout to receive your discount. Suitable for ages 5 to 12 years.

NOTE: We will have some threatened species from Native Animal Rescue arriving at 1pm, and participants of this workshop are welcome to stay and meet the animals for no extra charge!
