Thank you Jamie!
This is an example of a child seeing a problem and not just saying ‘somebody should do something’ and leaving it at that, but a boy who recognised that he was a ‘somebody’ and that his actions would speak louder than words, so he did something.
Jamie Spiro from Floreat Park Primary School, won a framed Eagles jersey and after a year he decided he didn’t want it any more. Instead of giving it away he decided to put it on Gumtree and donate half of what he got to charity ($100), the other half ($100) he would use to start a much wanted stamp collection.
He heard about WAGL having lost its funding for 2019 and decided that WAGL would be a good cause. He was adamant that if he didn’t raise more than $100 he would still give that amount to Herdsman.
This is now the third time children from Floreat Park PS have been instrumental in raising funds for WA Gould League (previously it was a student initiated cake stalls). It is a real tribute to the Floreat Park’s staff, parents and students, who have created such a positive values driven culture, which is being manifest in actions.
The WA Gould League would like to extend a warm thanks and appreciation to Jamie and all his hard work.
