Learning Experience tailored for:
Late Childhood to Early Adolescence (Yr 4 - Yr 7)


Description: Hands on Action to protect our Wetlands - weeding, planting, removing rubbish, Wildlife Warriors in action
Key Concepts: Citizenship, Environmental Responsibility, Individual Empowerment, Protecting Biodiversity Habitat/Ecosystem, Flora and Fauna, Food Chains and Food Webs, Human Impact on Wetlands, Management of Wetlands
    At the end of this learning experience students will:
  • Be excited to be Wildlife Warriors, protecting their native wildlife and habitat
  • Be a proud, activated citizen
  • Have been immersed into the wild, touching, tasting, smelling, observing the native flora and fauna
  • Understand basic feeding relationships and give examples of wetland food chains and food webs
    Identify native flora and fauna of the wetland and their adaptations for survival
  • Describe and discuss human impact on an urban wetland and wetland management practices
  • Discuss how their own actions can improve wetland and wildlife conservation.

Excursion to Herdsman Lake Wildlife Centre:
Wetland Warrior (1 hr with Education Officer).
It is recommended that Wetland Warriors is coupled with Swamp Safari or MudnMinibeasts to create half-day (morning or afternoon) excursion for a total cost of:
$9.00/student.
