Experience tailored for: Early Childhood to Late Adolescence (K to 12)
Description:
The Swamp Safari learning experience is ideal for students to use all their
senses of taste, smell, touch and sight to bring to life the wonders of
a natural wetland ecosystem. This experience is commonly coupled with the
MudnMinibeasts learning experience to create an outstanding half-
day excursion that assists students in grappling with the complexities and
fragile nature of the wetland ecosystem. This learning experience particularly
targets the Life and Living aspect of the Science Learning Area
At the end
of this learning experience students will:
- Understand
basic feeding relationships and give examples of wetland food chains
and food webs.
- Identify native
flora and fauna of the wetland and give examples of adaptations that
help them survive in their wetland habitat.
- Classify the
different wetland ecosystems and describe, compare and contrast wetland
habitats.· Appreciate the traditional cultural significance of
wetlands to the Nyungar people.
- Describe and
discuss human impact on an urban wetland and wetland management practices
- Appreciate
the fragile nature of our wetlands and be passionate about native flora
and fauna conservation.
