Whose Poo? (Early to Late Childhood :Yr 1-7)
A Crime has been committed and it is a dirty job, but its time to call in the experts! Students are Poo Detectives: Armed with digital cameras, the crime scene is photographed, and observations of the habitat made. Samples are examined closely in the lab and students use a dichotomous key to work out the culprit. Judgement is passed. The criminal is identified and students are awarded with a "Poo Expert" Badge.

Poo Science (Late Childhood to Early Adolescence:Yr 7-)
Scientists have to get their hands dirty! Builds on Whose Poo activity. Key Concepts: Carnivore/Herbivore - Food Pyramids,
Adaptations and Digestion. Extension ideas: Superphosphate fertilizer production, Organic vs Inorganic, Eutrophication, Poo parasites, Introduction of Dung Beetles, Waste Water/Sewage Treatment, Water Conservation.

Mud Monster Movies (Early to Late Childhood:Yr 1-7)
Armed with scoop net and video camera- Students find their own Mud Monster, record its movements and antics using a digital microscope while others squeal with horror. Take the images back to school and make your own horror movie.
Extension: Make Models of Mud Monsters, Design your own Animal. Do a food web play/song, have a "monster dress up day", make your own mud - compare your muddy footprint with the print of your mud-monster.

Microscopes and Mud: (Late Childhood to Early Adolescence:Yr 7-)
Students armed with scoop nets and sample jars take samples of our "Living Water" Students can view the macroscopic life on a digital microscope and record images and identify organisms. The water is then taken to the lab for microscopic examination. Students record their observations and identify micro-organisms.
Key Concepts: The living water, water is life, Food webs, classification
Extension: Water quality, Water /Sewage treatment, Drinking treated sewage water, Water conservation
