Teachers (SOSE/Aboriginal Studies) IDEAL SCHOOL INCURSION EXPERIENCE FOR HARMONY / NAIDOC (National Aboriginal and Islanders Day of Celebration) WEEK Experience tailored for: early childhood to late adolescence (K-12) Description: Treat your students to an excursion experience, where they can 'go walkabout' within your school grounds with Nyungar guides and experience the life of traditional Nyungar living. Bush-Tucker and Bush Medicine Learn the secrets of survival in the swamp - try bush-tucker and bush medicine. Go 'walkabout' around the school to find your own bush-tucker. Nyungar
GraffitiForget spray-cans! Learn the Nyungar way of signing your 'Tag' and paint your Nih' (signature). Schools will keep a copy of class Nih's/student rock art . Nyungar Know How Examine Nyungar artefacts, discuss and explore their uses from ceremonial uses, and methods of communication to everyday hunting and gathering uses. Smoking Ceremony Encompass the culture and spirituality of the Nyungar people. Let the smells and sights foster the harmony of the Nyungar culture. Nyungar camp food Forget Big Mac's - this is Mac Skippy! Have a taste of BBQ Kangaroo and Traditional Damper. Each student will receive a small piece of Kangaroo on a piece of traditional damper. (additional $3/student for this experience). Nyungar Survivor So you are a Survivor Fan? Well now is your chance to train up!
