Gould League is proud to announce an exciting new Professional Development
Program for teachers and Adult Education for the community in partnership
with:
Marie Taylor, Associate Lecturer, Nyungar Cultural Studies
at Kulbardi Aboriginal Centre, Murdoch University and
Neville Collard, descendant of the Balardong Nyungar people,
traditional owners of the Herdsman Lake region.
A cultural experience in the customs and language
of the Nyungar people of the Southwest of WA
A
2-day course designed for both the Professional Development of Teachers
of Aboriginal Studies/SOSE/The Arts/Special Ed/English and indigenous
and non-indigenous members of the community.
At the completion of this course, participants will:

have a historical and cultural overview of the local Nyungar culture
and language
-
have developed fundamental Nyungar practical skills, including the making
of Nyungar artefacts

have developed a foundation and guide to learning the Nyungar language
-
be able to link Nyungar past to the present through traditional storytelling
- receive
a Nyungar resource tool-kit and Accredited Certificate, recognised by
Murdoch University which may be used to articulate into Murdoch's Pre-Tertiary
and Tertiary Courses.
Nyungar
participants will have a greater sense of identity and place through investigating
and experiencing their traditions and land with their people.

Marie
Taylor ( Nyungar Birdiyia Yok and Elder), is the Nyungar Know-How Coordinator
and main presenter. Marie Taylor is the Associate Lecturer of Nyungar Cultural
Studies at Kulbardi Aboriginal Centre, Murdoch University and is a direct
descendant of the Traditional
Nyungar landowners of the Herdsman Lake region.
Neville Collard, (Nyungar Birdiyia), will also be a presenter.
Neville Collard is a direct descendant of the traditional Nyungar landowners
and is well known as a registered Aboriginal speaker for schools.

Full
receipt of payment upon registration secures your booking.
In the event of a cancellation, full refund of payment will be made
up to 14 days prior to course event. No refund will be paid after
this time.
Minimum enrolments for each Nyungar Know How course = 15 participants.
WA Gould League reserve the right to cancel the course if enrolments
are less than 15. All enrolled participants will receive 3 days notice
and a full refund of registrations in the event of this occurring.
