 WA Gould League is proud to announce an new Professional Development Program for teachers and Adult Education for the community in partnership with Yelakitj Moort Nyungar Assoc Inc, descendants of the Balardong Nyungar people and traditional custodians of the Herdsman Lake region.

A cultural experience with a guided tour of sacred Nyungar sites
 

A 1-day tour of the significant Nyungar sites around the Perth Metropolitan region designed for both the Professional Development of Teachers of Aboriginal Studies/SOSE/The Arts/Special Ed/English and indigenous and non-indigenous members of the community.



At the completion of this course, participants will:
  • have a basic historical and cultural overview of the local Nyungar culture and language
  • have participated in fundamental Nyungar practices such as Smoking ceremony and Nyungar Dance
  • have visited local significant Nyungar sites in the Perth region and have an understanding of their cultural significance
  • experience the link between Nyungar past to the present through traditional storytelling

Nyungar participants will have a greater sense of identity and place through investigating and experiencing their traditions and land with their people.

This course is designed to complement learning outcomes of the Nyungar Know How 3-day Adult Community Short Course.

Date: Flexible - arranged upon appointment
Time: 8.30 am - 3.30 pm
Cost:(GST incl) $250* includes bus fee, morning tea and traditional Nyungar meal for lunch.(* fee may be discounted in the event of successful sponsorship)
Venue: Herdsman Lake Wildlife Centre, Cnr Flynn and Selby St, Wembley
Bookings: Full receipt of payment upon registration secures your booking.In the event of a cancellation, full refund of payment will be made up to 14 days prior to course event. No refund will be paid after this time.Minimum enrolments for each Tour = 15 participants.WA Gould League reserve the right to cancel the course if enrolments are less than 15. All enrolled participants will receive 3 days notice and a full refund of registrations in the event of this occurring.
